Upcoming Events in Brief
BLESSING OF HOMES
I will begin the blessing of homes on January 20th. By His Baptism in the river Jordan, Christ sanctified the waters. It is at this time of year that that sanctification is brought to your homes, to you and to your loved ones. I pray that you will keep this tradition of having your homes blessed. Please fill out the form included in this bulletin if you wish to have your home blessed or call me to set up a time and day. May God bless all of you during this New Year with health and salvation!!
ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
January 29th is the date set for our Annual Congregational Meeting following Church services. It is important that all parishioners attend as we discuss the status of our parish and plan for a new year. We need to have 75% of our parishioners in attendance for quorum so we can vote on important items in the coming year. Also, it is important that you have your dues paid through the 2011 year to have a voice at the meeting. If you are not sure of your financial status with the parish, please see Debbie Samilenko or contact her via email (samilenkod@gmail.com ) or by phone (203.876.7660).
If you are interested in serving on next year's church board, please see our Parish President Carole Krochta before January 22nd to have your name added to the list of people running for office. Remember that being an officer is an important task in our parish and should not be taken lightly. All officers are expected to attend the monthly meetings and do various tasks for the church.
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
Our Church School children and newly reactivated Junior ACRY will be participating in the nationwide project “Souper Bowl of Caring” on February 5 th. This project asks people across the country to help fight hunger and poverty in our local community.
After liturgy on the 5 th , we are asking you to help them out by bringing a can or 2 of soup and give to one of our church school children. You can also purchase homemade soup prepared by one of our ACRY members and being sold by our Junior ACRY members. Soup cans and soup sale proceeds will be turned over to the Sterling House Community Center Food Bank to help stock their shelves and provide nourishment to local families in need. After our donations are counted, we will call them into a national hotline to report the amount of food and monies collected in our parish and be included in to the national totals of that day. Won’t you help us help families less fortunate than us? Web-site for the event is http://www.souperbowl.org .
Homemade soups will be sold in soup to-go containers for $2.00 each.
